Healing Thought of the Week: Get Clear and Truthful

I wrote about how long it took me to get myself in gear and really do the work I needed to do in order to overcome my trauma. You might be wondering, what flipped the switch?

Here’s the beginning of how it happened:

In my recovery memoir I write about a day that was a turning point. I got very bad, very disturbing news that threatened my health. It prompted me to really take an accounting of what was going on with me, which lead me to realize…

Fear had always felt so normal that I didn’t usually notice it. On this day, however, I could see how, for the nearly twenty-five years since my trauma, my life had revolved around fear: escaping it, accepting it, fighting it, reprimanding it, giving in to it, rebelling against it.

When you get that clear and truthful, you can’t help becoming engaged in your recovery process. Are you that clear and truthful with yourself?
