When you don’t feel good it’s absolutely normal to try to get better as quickly as possible, even if that means rushing your recovery. (Actually, it’s a really terrific sign that you so much want to get better.)
The problem is that by rushing your recovery you don’t give yourself a chance to truly own it. By skipping steps and running ahead you leave behind work that needs to be done to help prevent you from falling backward.
With all of the survivors I work with (and this was true in my own recovery, too) I see the most progress made when we are willing to take ONE STEP AT A TIME. This means GOING SLOWLY — taking the time to make choices, reflect, understand and appreciate what you need, have done and are doing.
Taking your time also gives you the opportunity to see and feel your own power exerting itself, coming forward more and more as you take actions that ensure your own safety, wholeness and happiness. These are the kinds of healing processes that last.
