Last week, we discussed some of the psychological aspects to consider in order to live a life of joy by leaving PTSD in the past.
At the end of that post, I mentioned that we would next go into some of the physical ways that help PTSD healing. So, welcome back and let’s get started on the right types of exercises which you can start applying today!
Let me begin by stating that I’ve chosen some exercises which are all based in ancient philosophies and practices. These are all exercises which are easy to do and easy for anyone of any age and gender. None require physical strength or any other such prerequisites, so pick which works best for you then decide to take that important action of doing it so that your healing can be more complete.
This is a much less well known source of energy and ebullience through exercise, but its effectiveness is nothing short of amazing! One of the nicest things about this form of exercise is the fact that it focuses on slow and methodical movement which refocuses the union of the mind and body as one. Its benefits have been known and practiced for centuries and today, it’s becoming a top choice for reducing stress of all forms.
Yoga is surely an excellent choice to help you move past your PTSD pain. The ways in which yoga helps you to align your body, posture, movement, and mind have been well documented for many years. For the easy implementation and good practice of the objectives outlined in part 1 of this series, yoga is one of the best choices you can make.
Some of the greatest benefits of both forms of exercise is their power to assist you in entering your subconscious mind. As mentioned in part 1, the center core of your being is where you make decisions and the decision to live a life of joy in spite of PTSD is an important decision to make. These exercises open the door to discovery for you to accomplish that goal.
Once you have created a new pathway into your subconscious mind through the use of these physical exercises, then the mental/psychological exercises in part 1 will be much easier to perform. One helpful tool I’ve seen work wonders for people is to practice the use of positive affirmations while performing the slow meditative exercises of yoga or tai chi. This is an excellent way to incorporate healing from the center of your soul and body while reprogramming your mind to remain focused on living in the moment.
Indeed, living in the moment is possible and probable when you work with the right techniques and employ them in your life. It’s never too late to learn to let go of pain and reach for joy. It’s never too late to heal from PTSD and choose happiness.
