Cultivating Heart Intelligence Is Good For Mental Health

Heart intelligence, according to the Institute of Heartmath, is a flow of awareness that occurs when our emotions and mind come into alignment with the heart. We can activate this alignment, or coherence, by paying attention when we sense our heart is guiding us. The benefits of coherence include clarity of thought, tranquility, energy, and a healthy immune system.

Coherence is short-circuited when we experience feelings of fear, anger, and anxiety. The shortest route to increased heart coherence is through cultivating positive feelings such as kindness, love, and compassion. To that end, and because February is American Heart Month, enjoy some quotes celebrating the wisdom of the human heart.
