Judge: Casey Anthony Mentally Fit to Stand Trial


The huge impact of mental health in murder trials often goes unnoticed. By simply deeming someone mentally incompetent to stand trial, a judge essentially has the power to completely change the circumstances and possible consequences of a case for a particular alleged criminal.

This was not the case in Casey Anthony’s murder trial, however. On a Monday, a judge ruled that Anthony was fit to stand trial for murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
