TED Talk: Begin Your Inner Journey

TED talk speaker Ana Maria Saad reminds us about the importance of awareness, especially in love.

Ana Maria Saad begins her story by telling us that she was sexually abused by her stepfather. After that point in her life, she fell into a deep depression that seemed unending. She asks the audience to "imagine the person you love most in the whole world, and then imagine that they died today. Imagine the intense mourning feeling." Saad explains that she felt this extreme sadness every waking moment. While other kids were getting excited about life and making plans to travel and see the world, Saad says the only thing she wanted was to die. Eventually, after taking an inner journey, she began to recover. Watch to see how she recovered from the deep, dark throws of depression, and what her ultimate advice is to other sufferers of mental disorders.
